The weird thing is, my favourite punk bands are not all that Punk.
They're probably my faves because I love singing, and their songs are more They're the flatliners, The wonder years, and Streetlight Manifesto. Here are some others by genre: Favourite Pop Punk: 1:The Flatliners 2:The Wonder years 3:Rancid 4:Propagandhi Favourite Punk Rock: 1: Dead Kennedys 2: Sex Pistols 3:Misfits Favourite Hardcore Punk: 1:Minor Threat 2:Bad Brains 3:FEAR 4:Stiff Little Fingers 5:Vitamin X 6:The Bronx Favourite Ska Punk/ska pop punk: 1:Streetlight Manifesto 2:Operation Ivy 3:Suicide Machines 4:Big D and the Kids Table 5:Against All Authority Favourite Crossover Thrash: 1:S.O.D(Stormtroopers of Death) 2: D.R.I.(Dirty Rotten Imbiciles) 3:Suicidal Tendencies 4:Hellmouth Favourite Post-Hardcore/post-punk: 1:Fugazi. Didn't listen to much else, but I really dig Fugazi, but If I have to pick a 2..than I guess 2:Husker dü. Just because of zen arcade. 3:Minutemen. 4:Nomeansno. Wrong might be my favourite album, but the rest of the discography disappoints me in comparison Favourite Metalcore(Still a punk genre): 1:Everytime I Die. That's pretty much it. Favourite Celtic Punk(Because this is all I've listened to...): 1:The Pogues 2:Flogging Molly 3: Dropkick Murphys. Also, if I have to list some third wave and two tone ska that doesn't have much to do with punk: 1:Westbound Train 2:The Aggrolites 3:The Toasters 4:The Slackers 5:The Specials 6:The English Beat I find it really hard to pick favourites, actually :c. When somone asks me my favourite bands I ususally don't really know what to answer with besides the Flatliners, The Wonder years and Streetlight, but like I said...it's because I love singing their songs. I spent the summer of 77 in NYC and London soaking up the new bands. The ones that I saw and still listen to are:UK,The Damned and Buzzcocks/ NYC, Television and The Patti Smith Group.I then moved to the west coast and fell hard for: SF, The Avengers and Flipper and when in LA, X and The Circle Jerks could be counted on for a fun evening. I kept It to two per because the list would wear me out. I also am not dissing other cities and scenes , these are the ones I was closest too.If I had the time(I am a slow typist), I have some funny stories about The Caning Shop and the Gillman St. scene
