...nah, I'm not too fond of either television or patti smith, but I think they have a much larger audience then they did back in the day, more than just artsy-fartsy types.

well the ramones probably have a larger fan base, thats for certain. but when you talk about bands from that Era very few of them share the ethos that the Ramones had.

I think maybe it was Kiss and thats it. Whats appealing about the Ramones is they wanted to be liked and to be popular, and there was never a "you just don't get it" attitude about them.

Lets never talk about the sex pistols again. They were a pop band who was selling a look. It was all about fashion and money to them. They said when they first started that they werent going to play shows in California because it was too "popular" and sure enough they played there. You may be asking yourself why did they play there? Well the played there because they got offered money. What a bunch of fools.
