@jackhammer...how are the Sex Pistols over rated? Do you mean over rated in terms of a band, or their place in music? |

Their place in music. The Damned actually released their debut before the Pistols. I like them but they were certainly marketed well by McClaren.

Surely you can't deny the influence they had with their early gigs. The Lesser Free Trade Hall being the obvious example. That gig alone caused more waves than anything The Damned did combined. I can't agree that their place in music is over rated... |

I'm not saying The Damned had any impact, this is precisely the reason I think Pistols are overated. Such was their marketing strategy that so many other bands never seemed to get recognition. For people who are not that knowledgeable on punk it seems that the pistols were the be all and end all of Punk. I like the Pistols and definitely agree about that gig and also their appearance on the Bill Grundy show. I just get annoyed that they are seemingly the best of what punk has to offer.

As a catalyst though, they were second to non. I'll also agree that what was to follow held more interest for me than anything they contributed. Which is why this 'new' album release won't be getting any of my attention. |

Did anyone hear that god awful metal album Steve Jones did about 1990 called FIRE AND GASOLINE? More proof if it was ever needed that this album will probably suck.

Yeah but Dinosaur JR as good as they are/were they were only ever a decent indie band. They never made anything as groundbreaking as the Pistols , plus Dinosaur JR were around for about 10 years. The Sex Pistols made one album that changed everything and split up. There's no way in hell they can come up with anything the will even come close to it. Even if the Pistols do come up with good material it'll never be as good as anything on Never Mind The Bollocks

they could never ever produce something as good as nvm the bollocks, they should really stop whille they are ahead, i mean, sometimes it is better to burn out than fade away, better to stop whille there still good then become a mediocre at best band
