I thought I would start a new thread, no count down this time, you just have to pick one band either new or old from one of the following genres.

(Post Punk/Goth Rock/Industrial/Alternative/No Wave)(No punk rock or hardcore please, keep it moody)

The only rule is that you have to post what you think are at least two or three best songs from that band, so make sure your familiar with them.

Violent Femmes

My personal favourite American post punk/alternative band of all time.

I just started listening to the VFs again after a 2 year pop punk binge, big surprise to see how much I still enjoy them. I forgot how talented their bassist is, I can hear Mike Watt all over that ****.

Anywho, much to my embarrassment I went through a bit of a goth phase in highschool and one of my favorites was Christian Death. The band had a lot of drama regarding it's lineup but most fans agree CD without Rozz Williams is not CD. Pretty campy, fun, sleazy stuff. If I recall correctly that's Rick Agnew (Adolescents) on guitar for their first album. Hard to believe this came from LA circa 80s during the height of bands like Black Flag.

There is no shame in being goth my friend. I could never get into Christian Death myself, but music is subjective and that's why you need a variety of people posting.

Good contribution!

It's more how ridiculously seriously I took it all that I'm embarrassed of- especially since that whole scene was way before my time. Somewhere along the way I found Jawbreaker and eventually made my way to where I'm at now, huzzah and cheezitz for me. Happy to contribute what I can :D

I didn't mind some of the Valor Kand fronted Christian Death but I would agree that they were quite different bands.

Howzabouts an industrial staple I'm sure many people around here are at least a little familiar with

My three favorites do an extremely terrible job of demonstrating the rage of styles Trent and the Reznors have covered but oh well

The Downward Spiral is definitely an album everyone should listen to before they die.

Allright so far Violent Femmes, Christian Death, Foetus and Nine Inch Nails. Keep them coming, cheers.

****, I should mention another band I've been getting into. I've been trying to talk them up as much as I can, they're called Wild Moth and they're great. They just released a full length in September- it's ****ing fantastic. You can get it for 6 bucks here: http://wildmoth.bandcamp.com/
