Nice to see some Current 93 love Screen13.

23 Skidoo are another post-punk/industrial/funk and all that band I enjoy. They know how to make good use of the drums. Sounds quite Fela Kuti influenced actually, I think they are? Anywho, Seven Songs and Urban Gamelan are 2 of my favorite records by them. Not too complicated, just enjoying the occasional funky rhythms, some guitar here and there, other simple use of instruments and the drum rolls. That's not all they've managed to accomplish though.



More of a haunting track. They have other tracks like this. New Testament comes to mind.


Bit crazy and funky.


Gotta appreciate that drum beat man.

To add onto this, LAShTAL, what's known as the first recorded Current 93 record, had Fritz Haaman who I think was mainly a part of 23 Skidoo. 2/3'rd of the single turned into a bonus for the 1992 release of the Nature Unveiled CD on Durtro (although I think some other re-issues only feature the album alone). The work also features John Balance.



The track that got away...except for collectors and streamers, of course!

As much as I enjoy a good dose of industrial now and then at heart I'm more of a folky alternative guy, Violent Femmes, Pogues, New Model Army ect, so I've let this thread lie down.

Esplendor Geometrico is one of my favourite industrial noise groups of the 80's. They're quite in your face, as is to be expected of any industrial duo. They use soundbytes in a similar manner to SPK, but in Spanish, as the group hails from Spain. They also have some creative cover art, albeit brutal at times. Here are some tracks:

Perennial Divide is the band Jack Dangers and Johnny Stephen formed before Meat Beat Manifesto. I went over their discovery twice last night, and they definitely need more recognition. Unfortunately short-lived, 1986 - 88, and released very few materials. They focused on post-punk and industrial, rather than electronic and dub like MBM did.

There aren't many tracks on youtube so I had to make do with what they have.







Beehead - EP is the best, and their album Purge is pretty darn good. Beehead has funky polyrhythms, and Purge has a straight up industrial electro sound. Worth checking out.
