One could just post this:
Punk rock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ...but to me from what I've seen (and I grew up along side of it), is that Punk is angst. Lashing out at all that is conformism, and oppression. In simple terms. Werd.

I hate these conversations. Black Flag is punk - but so is Television, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Nausea, The Screamers, Circle Takes the Square and very select parts of Green Day's career. Does that make any sense to define a 'sound?" Not really. It's pretty annoying in fact to deliberately try and put something in a box that defines itself by how much of the box it can break. These arguments never go anywhere and punk fans seem obsessed with having it still, even though no one ever agrees or comes to a conclusion (other than like making fun of Fall Out Boy or something.)
Punk is a stupid word and conversations like this make it a stupider one. |
