Anyway, Pierce the veil's cool. I found it odd that He'd wear an odd future shirt so often. Do indie people do that alot? I mean vic and Tyler are both semi famous so why glorify someone on the same level as you?

Modern post-hardcore sucks balls(except La Dispute), It has nothing to do with the original genre and more to do with Metalcore. Pierce The Veil is terrible.
La dispute is an exception for me because it actually has some things in common with the original genre, sounds unique, and is very well done imo.

Metalcore is pretty bad too. It used to be a synonim for Crossover Thrash, but hey, at least that has it's own name. The only Metalcore band I like so far is Everytime I die.
I also noticed most Mathcore bands sound a lot better than the Metalcore ones.

I still don't understand how this band even remotely belongs in the Punk part of the forum. Because this band is not Punk.

As for my opinion on them? Not my thing. Never really been able to get in to bands like this.

This is what post-hardcore is to my generation. Hell, many metalcore bands are considered hardcore punk now..What a joke.
The difference is so huge, it's like the R&B we used to have(sounded a lot like rock & Roll) and the R&B we have now.

Thinking I can speak a little for my generation, It's easier for me to relate to more modern artists than it is for me to understand what a bunch of old dead people were talking about in a time I know nothing about.

It may not be as blunt and hard, but I believe It's more artistic, expanding the borders of cliche' alternative, punk, whatever the heck people here would consider pierce the veil.

I did get off on the wrong foot on this thread though. I'm actually a big fan of pierce the veil. "Flair of dramatics" didn't do much for me, but off a whim I checked out "Collide with the sky" and.... I.... Lost.. MY... SH##. I love the singing, I can't really talk on the technical aspect of the music since I just got into the scene, but the music in Itself was amazing.


oh oh oh oh. boo hoo, new "post hardcore" just wants to talk heart break and self indulgence. Yea.. That's what music has been about since the beginning.

And an old head in punk music (NOFX tat and all) told me that punk's an attitude. Apparently some people here think It's a certain guitar riff, or certain range in vocals that make people think It's "punk"

Heck, Pierce the veil impacted me oh so, that It's a complement that they're not easily placed in one genre. Let's then just call it "PTV muzzac"

I'm saying this because modern post-hardcore has NOTHING TO DO WITH POST-HARDCORE.

They're two separate genres with the same name. I don't know how it happened, but that's what happened.

I like plenty modern artists, and like you said, I can relate more to them, but this seriously shouldn't be considered the same genre.

Post-hardcore is a genre that came from hardcore punk and then developed into Emo.

Everytime someone of my age I know talks about post-hardcore, they mean the latter, and they don't know about the existance of the original genre.
Well, at least they don't call modern post-hardcore punk music, because that would be the biggest lie ever.

.... Well the latter does have a different feel. It seems more raw and in your face, and I guess what you're saying that these new softies trying to take the same genre as these latter people is an insult because they'd rather sit and pout and write about it than storm the gates.

Like I said, I'm new to this music, and I don't consult with too many people that are into this genre because I'm from and in a hick town.

That being said, I don't understand that every band has to be in It's proper sub genre.

At the same time I'm a hip hop head. I can tell you nearly everything from T La Rock, Rawkus Records, to Stone Throws, and the whole time I listened to hip hop I didn't sit back and put everything in it's own sub genre.

Ex: THIS IZ HIP HOP, THIS IS RAP, THIS IS HIPPITY HOP, THIS IS GANGSTA, HARDCORE, HORRORCORE SHOCK CORE.. so on and so forth

It was all hip hop to me. From kool G rap, common, to Waka flocka it was hip hop.

But I am new to the rock/metal/alternative/whatever/ community, where people actually give a dang about quality, and apparently can rightfully claim certain bands to a sub genre

ps. I didn't mean to get in my panties in the last post if i seemed like i was. It's nice to post on stuff and when other people can come with good point of views.

My only tiff or issue with this, was what I initially said about Pierce The Veil not being a Punk band...because they're not. And from my perspective it just shows how out of touch this new generation is with how to label a band, it would seem they just don't know and lack the education on genres in general to know what they're talking about.

This band is not Punk. And I think that they would be better moved to the Metal sub-forum.

That said. Sala, I like that you're branching out from the ordinary or usual music you listen to. You sound like you want to learn too. I think that's cool man. I'm a pretty huge Metal head, Rock guy, Hard Rock guy, whatever deals with Rock, Metal, either of those two genres sub-genre too. I can't say I know the most here. Because I've found more than a few here that know more, and better than I do. I'm learning things myself. So if I am wrong here, and somehow Punk suddenly decided it wanted to face lift itself. Someone feel free to tell me why this band is actually in some weird ass way, a Punk band. But I will clarify that I am well aware of what Dylstew pointed out.
