he's definitely ridiculously talented, and a great drummer, but I think since he's such a well known drummer his talent has been blown out of proportion, thus creating a large amount of people to think he's nothing special at all. Maybe he's not Pert, but he definitely takes Blink 182 to that next level, and he's done a genius job of positioning himself as the most famous drummer of the era, by working with tons of bands, rappers, etc etc.

I agree with the people saying that its subjective and really depends on the genre. Hes not astounding or legenadary as a drummer but like Freebase said he keep a rhythm right on point and fits his mold well.
And I think it was Big3 who mentioned this but alot of people really dont many drummers by name or off hand but if you mention Barker most people will immediately know who your talking about. Say if you mention some guys like George Hurley, Bud Gaugh or Mitch Mitchell it may not sound so familair haha People tend to forget this but he(Barker) was also in The Aquabats for a short period.

He's definitely considered talented because he's popular, and that's what some people like to argue with music: perception being reality, which is total bull****. I think he is talented, he just isn't that talented in the grand scheme of music, which most people have absolutely no knowledge of. It's the same thing for a lot of popular music artists.

He kinda is, wheter we like him or not Travis is a working musician, none of us are in a position to look down on him because he has accomplished more than any of us.

At least he is has done something ya know? There are some musicians we don't personally like so we discredit them without adding anything ourselves. Ive done this i admit it, my ego judges other ppl who have accomplished more than me but even so the fact is Travis is adding more to this world than my ****ty insults ever will. i don't wanna explain the obvious but once we judge ppl like we are doing him, it automatically claims a sense of superiority, like some random dude on a music forum is better than Travis just cause he thinks blink sucks. Nah man, whether you like him or not you can't say he is a ****ty drummer because truth is he isn't you just don't like him for wthvr reason. it's kinda like mixing your ego with facts.
