I get what you mean, the difference for me, only picking it up post 90s was that most people I knew ( of my age) didn't know anything that wasn't on MTV or Kerrang (unless they got stuff from older siblings, like I did) -hence the explosion of greenday/offspring. Rancid got some fame as people wanted a more modern clash record. NOFX only really hit my circles with Errorism, most people didn't much care for their earlier stuff. They were never massive in the Uk (to my knowledge) but again-anyone who likes a bit of "punk" as opposed to what Greenday/Offspring/Sum41 knows Punk in Drublic. |
