31. Agnostic Front, Genre (NYHC/Crossover Thrash) New York, USA, era, 80's/Present &

Judge Genre (NYHC) New York, USA, era 80's/90's

Some bands improve with time, and this is the case with the godfathers of New York hardcore Agnostic Front. I must confess that with the exception of maybe Cause for Alarm, I'm not overly fond of their early material. I find both United Blood & Victims in Pain to be run of the mill hardcore albums, and Liberty & Justice for All doesn't live up to its predecessor as a crossover classic. However from the 90's onward they became most excellent.

Stigma released a really good solo album not to long ago, I highly recommend it.

Only thing I ever liked from Agnostic Front:

After this, I never dug anything they did. But I was never huge on most of that tough guy New York Hardcore stuff.

30. Dillinger Escape Plan, Genre (Mathcore/Post Hardcore) New Jersey USA era, 90's/00's &

Botch, Genre (mathcore) Washington State, USA, era 90's

Mathcore pioneers Dillinger Escape Plan. A lot of their fans think that they've sold out by making softer music that is more commercially viable, hmmm debatable I suppose, I'm not a fan of the songs that seem composed for radio play, but I do like the free jazz influence.

Mathcore pioneers Dillinger Escape Plan. A lot of their fans think that they've sold out by making softer music that is more commercially viable, hmmm debatable I suppose, I'm not a fan of the songs that seem composed for radio play, but I do like the free jazz influence.

God bless John Belushi, that was pretty cool. I had heard about it, but never seen it before. I could see why the producers were freaking out, stage diving must have looked hardcore in 1981 lol.

I had no idea he was in the movie Clue, mind you I have never seen it either. Anyways I love Fear to guys, one of my all time favs.

28. Blood Duster, Genre (Grindore/Stoner metal) Australia era, 90's/00's &

Le Scrawl, Genre (Experimental Grindcore/hardcore/ska/lounge) Germany, 90's/00's

There as always been a big underground punk & metal scene down under in Australia, but until the advent of the internet, the scene was kinda of isolated due to living so far away from North America & the UK.

Blood Duster was of one of the first bands to start to get recogintion in North America by the late 90's early 00's, so I thought I'd throw them up.

I'm probably taking some liberties by putting them on the list, as they lean metal, but they have a hardcore style & attitude to their music, and are often on the HC circuit touring with bands like the Cancer Bats ect. Anyways I just think they rock.

Outside of Naked lunch I don't know of too many experimental grindcore bands, and I'm not entirely sold on the label of grind for this band, but they are pretty funky, so...

27. Bad Brains, Genre (Hardcore/Funk metal/Reggae) Virginia USA, era, 80's/00's &

Skindred Genre (rasta punk/alternative rock metal/raggacore) Newport Wales UK, 00's.modern

Bad Brains new home, as their was some controversey as where they should sit, and I did feel that I should move them up considerably.

I am however still not entirely sold on their first album. If every track was on par with the Big Take Over, I would move them up, but as it stands I think I against I is their best rock album, and they began to stray from hardcore sometime afterwards.

I am impressed with their dub reggae though, another genre I know quite a bit about, for once upon a time I scowered the earth for rare singles and 45's out of Kingston & London, so consider this the first of three reggae interludes.

I thought I'd try to keep all the rastafarians in one spot here as I initially forget about these guys as I did with many bands when I set out to do this list. Anyhow from the ashes of Dub War came Benji Webbe's new band Skindred that has been kicking around for sometime now.
