Iceage
I didn't find any thread for these dudes here, though they may have been mentioned in one i didn't see. But i feel like they shouldn't be overlooked; i'm not the biggest Punk fan, as in taking care to look deep in the genre. But these Danish dudes caught my attention right off. Anyway, proof:
|
I love this band!
These are my favorites: |
These guys are dope
|
They're very Wire-ish to me, which i love, but with less regard for tightness, almost swaggering like the Stooges, which i also love. One riff even got funky like a Minutemen melody, which is always a plus. It seems like a strange, delicate balance of various forms of punk that they maintain with great success.
|
I rather like them, though I wouldn't say they're my favorite new punk band. I do, however, look forward to their future, I've listened to their debut tons of times.
|
Heard their record last year when it was hot. I remember it being pretty decent without exactly blowing me away.
Couple of songs stick in mind, as being catchy punk tracks with good vocals. Wouldn't say they were exactly revolutionary or anything though. |
No, it's definitely not revolutionary. I'm more of a fan of comfy punk, stuff that's practically archetypical. Bad Brains, Clash, Ramones, even Trash Talk, whom i've heard referred to as traditional hardcore revival. I especially love super-melodic punk, which I find most of these to be. But yeah, this kind of punk is like putting on slippers and cozying up with the fire.
|
I've always found them engaging. Its solid roots punk like described. I give them a spin occassionally when i'm doing other tasks.
|
there was a lot of hype about these guys last year.....it's not bad but at the same time it's very by the numbers
i don;t think i would ever listen to the album as a whole again but don't mind when a songs pops up on random |
They're whipping out a new album soon, and to celebrate, they gave me these singles:
Even rootsier, and the vocalist seems a little more emotive, maybe vulnerable, than before. Also very emotive, and with a more poppish, disco-like beat. It seems like this record could lean exclusively for the 70s aspect of punk history. |
