^ one of my all-time favorite albums (hell my name is a Replacements reference, so that should come as no surprise.).

I think The Ramones can definitely take the title for most overrated punk band ever.

Really?
I'd give it to Bad Religion or Social Distortion.

At least The Ramones pioneered something, those other two just seem to hang around forever like a bad smell and neither have done anything remotely interesting yet people seem to rave about them constantly.

The Ramones were simply the best punk band ever. At least the best pop punk one. And their debut is incredible. I found completely new world when,I heard it for a first time.
This may sound ridiculous but Ramones affected nearly as much as The Beatles once did, and that's a lot.
Buzzcoks Singles Going Steady is great too.

A honorable mention goes to Energy by Operation,Ivy since it's more less known than it deserves but maybe everything isn't meant to be well known, don't ask me.

And I really like Green Day and I'm even a bit ashamed of it, because it does not fit well with my other favorites that well, but that's just my own conservatism.

Anyway, they are more pop than punk, always were, and at least in 21st century. More like The Who actually. And that is just a fact. But to quote someone whose name I can't remember, best punk bands are those who manage to outgrow punk.

Tim is my favourite album by them but I don't class it as punk (well the attitude is but the music isn't for the most part)

I always say if you don't understand the ramones, i dont understand you.

But I do not care about what is classified as "overrated", I find the term hass lost all meaning now and is just thrown around as a way of saying if i do not think something that is widely accepted as being great is great myself, it is overrated. which to me is just silly.

These performances fit the bill, especially the "Kiss Me on the Bus" clip: Red Red Wine On A Sunday: Replacements Banned from Saturday Night Live 1986
