Can't believe people consider it punk. It's not even close. I love the album and everything, I'll neverget sick of it, but **** if it's punk. Maybe we should throw some Smiths and Cure albums on the short list of great punk albums too while we're at it.

The Adolescents debut is still an amazing record.

Agreed. It's certainly not a million miles away from punk, but I think of it as a pop album first and foremost.

How is it not punk? I wanna know your reasoning.

Punk is not just a sound, it is a view point... and I think while it may not fit the cliche of what a punk record should sound like, it certainly has content that is part of the punk idiology.

Meh. It just feels more like a pop album than a punk album to me. I don't listen to it when I'm feeling in a punk mood, I listen to it when I'm in a pop mood.

I'm with Batlord and FTD. LC is a great album, but not punk IMO. Punk HAS an attitude but it's also a musical style, the Clash aren't punk. I dunno if they're pop, but they're not punk.

Is EL-P punk because of his attitude? Of course not. Come on man, essentially you have to define genres by how they sound, not the attitude.

Okay, it doesn't sound punk either. Not in the slightest.

London Calling, if anything, has punk attitude but just doesn't sound like punk at all.
