^ I listened to that a few days ago and whilst it is awesome, I would hardly call it punk. At least in the sense that it doesn't sound much like punk.

I think Double Nickels On The Dime is too boring to be the best punk album ever. And if there's one trait the best punk album ever have, it should be it's anything but boring.

Yeah its hard to classify The Minutemen as punk, you guys are right. It is hardly boring though, perhaps from a punk stand point you can say that but musically its all over the place and incredibly arranged. They were all such amazing musicians and their sound was epic. The lyrics and just overall vibe they give off oozes punk rock influences.

I don't mind The Minutemen, but to listen to 45 songs that pretty much sound the same for almost an hour and a half.....

Listening to King Crimson at their most pretentious is an easier feat than that.

I wouldnt really say they all sound the same but to each their own I suppose. Mike Watt is such a awesome bassist

I can't say that I've listened to the entire album through but the concept of it, as well as having some of the greatest (punk) songs I've ever heard takes it for me. When I sit through the whole thing, though, I'll report back.

As far as being Punk goes, I think it's Punk attitude/style taken to a different musical sophistication - I think of it as pure Prog-Punk. but that's just me.

Double Nickels does take a few listens for it... I can never do it in one sitting. I always have to take it slow - play a few tracks, listen to something else, come back to it again and repeat.

This however.

I could listen to 100x in a row.
