I can't even begin to imagine what music would be like now or over the past thirty years if it wasn't for punk. I can't even imagine what the world would be like now if it wasn't for punk. The truth is most people's favourite bands were influenced by punk in some way or other no matter much you hate it.

Avril Lavinge on the other hand, her first single sounded like a slightly more rocking version of Wilson Phillips' big hit. It's the same vocal melody, I can't hear the chorus to Complicated without having my brain mash in the 2nd half to Hold On. ableeblooblaabloobleebloobla bleh Complicated.... ...and you HOOoooollld On for one more day. Avril, never punk. Blink 182, never that good (especially not the later years), but definitely in line with most other skater pop/punk band back in the day. |
