Shannon and the Clams
...are from Oakland, Cali. Shannon was a former member the incredibly gay band Hunx and his Punx. Musically they sound like a lot of other garagey punk bands from the area like Nobunny and Ty Seagel, but with their own bizarre twist. In interviews, they say their main influences are weird pop music from the 50s and 60s, childrens music, and singers like Roy Orbison. Shannon's voice is amazing- she really bellows it all out. The guitar sounds fluttery one second and fuzzy the next. Drumming and bass are neat too I guess but the real prize of the band is Shannon. I will be seeing them tomorrow at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco and I hear they're amazing live.

They sold outta tickets before I got any. They marked X's on my not-legal-to-be-drinkin hands before they told me they sold out. My coworker teased me all day and called me straightedge. Mass disappointment. Saw their guitarist walking around though. My muttonchops < his muttonchops. He's really tall.
Yay. I figured out how to put youtube videos in the comments. Therefore, I MUST POST VIDS! Here are some of my fav songs by them: Last edited by Batman; 03-12-2012 at 03:57 AM. |

I like Shannon and the Clams, but Hunx and his punx (have cool gay videos but not enough substance) aren't smart. It's music for people who don't have ups and downs on a brain activity scan. I imagine the brain wave looks like this DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH , one straight line
