Lydia Lunch full of $hit?
I just watched this interview:
Of lydia lunch and cannot believe how horrendously she is acting in this with Narduar. Her tone of voice drives me insane and I cannot get over how condescending and misguided the things she says are. She claims that looks do not matter and that its the people inside but then goes off making fun of how narduar looks. She claims that magazines are vile because they tell lies and spread misinformation. When as Narduar points out himself that she spread lies about herself in her own performances. She seems like a person who knows some where they are full of ****e and gets defensive and evasive when she has to be called on any of her idiotic ideas. |

I hear so much good things about her from a lot of people but I just don't really understand it. I loved teenage jesus and the jerks but she just seemed very miserable. |

Well for 1, most old school punks were snots. Her attitude is pretty much exactly what I expected after a show and being interviewed by the Gilbert Godfried wannabe Larry King of punk rock.
2 Narduwar IS an idiot and his obnoxious persona isn't nearly as funny as he likes to think. My favourite was the time Henry Rollins made it very clear to him that he only had 1 question left and to maybe try making it count for the first time in the interview. |

to be fair, she looks bored and tired, so with Narduar just egging her on, it's pretty fair for her to react in such a way
although i do think Exene Cervenka's cool boredness is a much better way to deal with the irritation both of them suffered so, er no, i don't think Lydia's full of shit, Narduar wanted a confrontation and got one i've read several interviews with a more "reasonable" interviewer, and she was full of petulant wit and a canny intelligence |

I truly believe that how you react to a Nardwuar interview says a lot about you as a person and a musician.
Good reaction: Bad reaction: (Travis Barker) Anyways, I can't stand "punk chicks" like this at all. I agree, her tone of voice was extremely grating, I had to turn it off a few minutes in.

I like Nardwuar, people need to lighten up. I think he's far better than most interviewers out there, and he doesn't give a **** if he's insulted.
I suppose I can see why that chick was annoyed with him, since he was asking very aggressive, condescending, and personal questions. He probably just didn't like her in the first place and wanted to use the interview to take stabs at her. I didn't watch the whole thing though, so I could be wrong.

I totally believe that how artists react to Nardwuar shows a lot about them!! Haha I can't believe you think the same way. Nardwuar is vastly underrated to me. He comes off as an idiot some times but his music knowledge is massive and he does a lot of good research. Whenever I see an artist not mesh with Nardwuar I always get the impression that they take them selves way too seriously. I think that it is usually true. @ the henry rollins interview I was really upset by Nardwuars interview with Henry Rollins. I thought Henry was really rude and was being overly evasive and condescending towards Nardwuar. Like when he told him he was wasting his life and that unlike him he was doing important things like traveling the world and doing more "important" things. I could be wrong about this but I get a very strong feeling (especially from the 90s interviews) that the hostility and condescending behavior towards Nardwuar is not only from his outrageous personality but from a general negative perception against Canadians that was held by a lot people. Like he just doesn't seem to be taken seriously at all even AFTER he proves to know his stuff. He is widely recognized as some what of a "typical" eccentric Canadian or like a caricature of a Canadian. I don't think it is a coincidence. |
