What is Punk (country, hardcore, hip-hop, pop, rock)

A punk and a "normal" guy are walking down the street one day. The punk is in classic form; six inch blue liberty spikes, plaid bondage pants, leather jacket with band names scribbled all over it, etc. The normal guy turns to the punk and asks, "So just exactly what is punk anyway?" The punk emphatically replies, "Man, punk is doing whatever you want, whenever you want to and not giving a **** what anybody else thinks...you see that trash can right there?" The punk walks over to a nearby trashcan and kicks it over, spilling garbage all over the sidewalk. "That's punk." The normal guy ponders this as they continue to walk down the sidewalk. The next trash can they come to, the normal guy steps up and gives a kick, sending garbage flying everywhere. He turns to the punk, "So that's punk, huh?" The punk replies, "No, that's trendy."

i would like to point out that green day blink 182 and the like aren't really what you would call punk they've sort of formed their own category of music punk-rock which is actually very different from punk,the only real punk has something to rebel against like nofx and rebelling against bush and the sex pistols against the monarchy and other things,

Debating this subject is stupid. As it was pointed out earlier in the thred, arguing over this subject does not make you any more "punk" (whatever your definition is).

Just like what you want to like, don't care what its called, and dont give a rats butt what other people think...
