Keith Levene is pretty underrated

and also cos he's more known for his post-punk work (P.I.L.)

he was briefly in the Clash

It is almost criminal how under-rated the following are:

Chris Haskett (formerly) of Rollins Band:

King Buzzo! :afro::cool:

His stuff on Metal Box is impressive.

But would you really classify King Buzzo as punk?

BastardofYoung 01-28-2012 03:58 PM

punk influenced.

Billy Zoom of X is pretty great as well

though his style is more rockabilly

Possibly my favorite guitar riff! Greg sage is such a great guitarist. I often feel like I steal from him when ever I try to make anything up on guitar D:

Doesn't get more punk then this:

Lots of great US guitarists getting mentioned here... Maybe a bit too subtle for those with heavier tastes, but I'm a huge fan of the Tom Verlaine/Richard Lloyd combination in Television... On a UK tip, I'd say Brian James from The Damned has to be up there... Also John McGeogh from Magazine and Siouxsie & The Banshees... Magazine's "Shot By Both Sides" is epic in so many ways...

Billie Joe Armstrong

(semi-serious)

BastardofYoung 03-02-2012 01:57 AM

I would hardly call Billy Joe brilliant. He is about on par with Kurt Cobain. First songs you learn on guitar and Nirvana and Green Day, because they are so simplistic. Sure, they are fun to play, and it has a nice poppy sound to them, but ultimately there are tons more brilliant.

Billy Joe is good at writing simple, catchy riffs, but I would hardly call them brilliant by any stretch.
