Joe Spleen of the Gits. His playing had real punch, but managed to be totally danceable at the same time.
Walter Shriefels of Gorilla Biscuits. Not just brilliant playing, but he knew how to write amazing punk songs using a real genius pop style. The spiritual follow-up to another famous New York punk group w/ a pop sensibility. |

Can't believe I am the first to bring up:
Michael "Olga" Algar of The Toy Dolls. Been watching this video a fair bit: "Dig That Groove Baby" is a great album, need to dive deeper into their stuff.
