I'm not trying to be elitist, but that is such a ridiculous thing to claim and then run away when someone challenges it.

Pretty valid point there. I think the tone of Greg Ginn is what makes the BF sound so powerful.

I stated why I feel their guitar tone is better (than that of other punk bands) in my original post.

But if you didn't see that, here's why I like the sound of their guitars more than Black Flag: multiple layers of bright, warm guitar will always be my preference over what I feel to be a, while good, fairly standard punk tone.

Sure, I guess that's how their equipment performs, what punk band doesn't use effects? I mean, if that's what makes your music more appealing, go for it.

Now, as far as old-fashioned technical ability and writing goes, I will admit that Greg Ginn is a superior guitar player.

I understand your point now. I prefer the layered effect of BF myself, but now I understand where you are coming from.

I disagree. MC5 was punk rock in the 60's and influenced hundreds of bands. They were so influential that members from other genres were influenced by them including Eddie Van Halen.

I disagree as well. Maybe the music wasn't the purest form of punk, but the attitude was most definitely punk. True rebels who didn't give a fudge.

While I can see that, at the same time can you call David Allen Coe punk, being a rebel who doesn't give a fook? Granted his music wouldn't be seen as punk like MC5 can, but he is essentially in the same box in his own right.
