You're missing the point.
The point is: Buzz is saying he dislikes Skrewdriver for their hateful lyrics, which the band genuinelly believes. SODs lyrics are hateful as well, but because he percieves them as having some sort of troll motive, it's ok. So, what differentiates the two bands, according to Buzz, is biographical content, not lyrical content. Such a viewpoint, however, creates problems - such as, what if a musician holds racist views, but the music isn't racist? How do you deal with historical music that is racist? There is a place for biography when judging art. However, when biography trumps content, criticism both becomes relativistic and less informative. |
