I have a suggestion as well

Japanese Cartoon - In the Jaws of the Lords of Death

Taken from their wiki page
Quote:
Japanese Cartoon is an American rock band which was formed in 2008 by rapper Lupe Fiasco (who uses his real name, Wasalu Muhammed Jaco while performing with the band) as a side-project to explore his interest in rock music The band consists of Jaco (Vocals), Graham Burris (Bass), Matt Nelson (Keyboard), and Le Messie (Production) of Streetwear Brand FALSE. Their album In The Jaws of The Lords of Death was released July 16, 2010 as a free online download from their website.

I stumbled across this band because I'm on a Lupe Fiasco kick lately and he happens to be the lead singer.

I'm pretty sure this is considered post punk but correct me if I'm wrong

I might as well suggest something...

Music from Hell (1981) by Nervous Gender

It's a pretty interesting synthpunk album. It's a bit experimental and you could say it has some elements of industrial in it (but it is closer to punk). They also don't use one singer, they transition between maybe three or four different ones throughout different tracks within the album (which is cool). I guess you could also say it shares a few similarities with Suicide's debut album, except the fact it's less poppy and more punkish.

Well... I enjoy it. It definitely has that raw sound that appeals to punk rock listeners.

^^Great one

And what a coincidence. I'm making a compilation, which I'll post soon (these days I hope), of minimal-synth and synth-punk, and Nervous Gender is there, along with a lot of other interesting stuff.

Could someone start this back up? It's really a shame that so many album clubs are inactive/dying.

I don't know if you are still around but i think you vote that you should take control of it and kick start it back up.

I was going to use this club to learn more about punk

I'm running the Indie and Alternative Album Club, but I don't think it will be too much trouble running both... Should we start over the album nominations and start from scratch or... work with what we already have nominated?

By the way, it would be great to get you into punk rock. I know you like hip hop, and you would be surprised how much the two genres have in common (I believe one of the members of Minutemen made the comparison at one point).
