Default The Bronx

Punk band from California. Second and third albums are great and they recently made an album that combines hardrock with mariachi style music...it sounds really weird but one of the singles (posted below) is nice so I'll probably report to whoever responds to this with my thoughts on the album in the next few days..

Anybody else like The Bronx?

I saw them play live when they opened for some band I cared about. Hated the live performance a lot (poseurs - if that's still a word) but I like all the recorded stuff I have heard .. at least a little.

It was mostly the singer's fault. He displayed bad comical-yet-we're-a-serious-heavy-band type of antics. Like they were playing in the gray area between serious heavy music and parody heavy music. Also, it was their first album and their music just sounded dull. Before they started the singer said "We're the Bronx and we're from LA" and then he casually looked away and then the first song started. As if the audience would be awed by the irony and laconic humor of their name juxtaposed with their home city. That kind of thing happened throughout the show.

Eh, I'd probably see them live anyway. I don't care if their lead singer makes stupid jokes.

I'm not saying you shouldn't. Their music's OK after all.
