When Tim was in Operation Ivy he was great..but Rancid pretty much blows.

Brody has a great voice and sounds exactly like Courtney Love..
and if Hole is considered punk Courtney has a great voice.

Yeah Tim was great in Op Ivy but that was more about Jesse Michaels than it was Tim Armstrong...not to mention he was writing intelligent lyrics at 17 which is a bfd, Tim could never, not even at 40something be as brilliant of a writer as Jesse was (and probably is, never listened much to Common Rider) but back on target, Brody's voice is excellent, but even comparing her to Courtney Love...meh she's like her vocally but her lyrics are much more intense and emotional and cohesive than Love's are, and much better than anything Tim ever wrote. I think Tim just doesn't have it in him to write like that, he's an okay musician but he's not really a good lyricist. Whereas Brody isn't exactly the best guitarist but her lyrics are undoubtedly better than Tim.

I like Slant 6 because her voice sounds sweet but also not too pretty.

The Distiller's vocalist has a great raw sounding voice, nice and deep, though it always sounds the same in all the songs of hers I've heard.

The Bikini Kill vocalist's voice sounds screechy and thin to me...though she's got good anger. Her songs remind me of chalk on a chalkboard. I...don't care for her voice much. Even though I admire what she's saying, and that she's saying it.

The screechy thing is kind of the entire point, Veg. Its not for everybody. Her voice gets annoying after a while, but Kathleen Hannah (Bikini Kill vocalist) is in an electroclash band and sings slightly less obnoxiously.

If you listen to music for lyrics that resonate with you politically, Le Tigre works.
