Default Swingin' Utters

I could have sworn there was already a thread for these guys, but I guess not. Mods, please merge if it turns out the search lied to me.

A little background, paraphrased from Wiki:
Swingin' Utters are a San Francisco-based American punk rock band formed in the late 80s. They have been called a "punk revival" band (reminiscent of British 1970s bands such as Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, Sham 69 and Eddie and the Hot Rods) but have increasingly shown themselves to be influenced by traditional American country and folk music, as well as Irish folk, particularly The Pogues.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

The only album I have by them is Dead Flowers, Bottles, Bluegrass and Bones but I like it quite a bit. I also went to see them a little over a year ago at this fairly small club in San Jose that was walking distance from my apartment. They were decent live but I was a little disappointed that they sounded more like plain old punk than the roots/punk hybrid that I enjoy on the album.

I haven't seen them but it doesn't surprise me to hear that. I feel that a good 50% of their music is a bit more "plain old punk" and the roots stuff only really comes out on the rest. I really like the self-titled album, it's the first one I got and it got a few plays when I first got it, then I picked it up again several years later and it finally clicked. Actually I enjoy their last 4 studio albums pretty much equally.

I just recently discovered some of their side projects, I suggest you check out Filthy Thieving Bastards if you like the roots aspect. 3 of 4 members are from the Utters. I haven't heard all their stuff yet but A Melody of Retreads and Broken Quills is good.
