Look at some obscure European bands ..... The Kids .... there are loads of decent French , Belgian , German punk bands that were pretty much unknown in the UK , its a shame as some were as good as any we had . Just generally look on Youtube or something like that , worth a search and there's plenty to like ... I'm afraid we in the UK at that time were a bit snobby about punk , thinking ours was the only or best punk . There was loads equally as good as ours .

Riverboat Gamblers were pretty good when I saw them a while back
I highly recommend Rancid's Life Won't Wait despite the amount of hate that band gets from people. Hot Water Music's Caution is also a great album |

Another band I'll recommend is Appalachian Terror Unit if you're into the crust thing
As far as individual albums go, I picked up a great one today called Mostly in Sickness by a band called The Gift. They're like a grungy goth act but their music definitely has a punk backbone in terms of the song structure. |

Heard them a few years back and thought they were ace. From what I heard they were either a little earlier than those bands or just not really a part of that scene which is why they have more of a proto-punk New York Dolls vibe.
