mmm...that's a good question. i would have to say sum 41. they're my all time favorite band and i think i'd probably go insane if they weren't around anymore. the day they take an "indefinete hiatus" will be a sad one indeed.

I'm presuming the OP meant to limit his question to punk rock bands, so I am here to learn rather than contribute, as my knowledge of punk hovers around zero tbh.

And I was going to say the Beatles too.
That's a tough one for me since my tastes in 70's-80s tend to range a bit. I do like Punk but I can't say any one band stands out. I guess I'd go with the big guns, the Sex Pistols or the Ramones. I do like the Adverts a lot, so maybe they count. |

For punk? I'm gonna say The Stooges because I absolutely love their S/T debut, Funhouse and Raw Power probably each as much as any other punk band's output. Could not live without any of those three.
