Graves or Danzig (based on Misfits material)
just based on their time with The Misfits, who do you prefer?
|
to me the are no misfits post 1983
|
Is this a joke?
|
haha, no, it's not a joke. if i included jerry as a vocalist, maybe, but no. i like graves a lot

People need to lay off Graves. I too prefer the Danzig era material but the Misfits still made some great, catchy, albums with Graves. The hate should be focused toward Jerry Only if anyone.
|
After watching a few interviews of Glenn I almost want to vote for Graves, I swear Danzig embodies everything I could possibly hate.
|
yeah hes a douche but he made better music

Depends on what you're looking for...
Danzig and Jerry Only, ARE, and will forever BE, The Misfits. But I really like Graves' voice... always have. I think American Psycho and Famous Monsters are both really good albums (and the production value is better -- if that's what you're looking for). But, traditional Misfits fans will always be indifferent to (or unimpressed with) "life after Danzig." To each his own...
|
Why would I want better production value on a Misfits album?
|
I'm glad Danzig broke them up when he did. They were becoming less of a punk band and more of a gothic metal band by the end, which makes sense since they had to supplement material Danzig had written for his solo project to make LP length.
Static Age still stands as my favorite Misfits album, but even their worst Danzig album is better than their best Graves album. And them not releasing an album is better than their best Only album. |

We'll probably have to chalk this up to semantics and personal definitions of genres, but I'll try and explain it anyway.
The Goth part should be self explanatory. They sang about death, and had a liberal use of skulls, etc. I hear Metal all over Earth A.D. Primarily, Hellhound, Demonomania, and Devilock. To my ears, those are Metal tracks. Granted, I subscribe to the group who thinks Black Flag stopped being a punk band when idiot Rollins joined, so I'm already in the minority. |

Let's back track and see if we can find common ground first.
Do you consider The Damned to be a goth band? |

If you back track too far with The Damned, you'll veer back into their mostly punk beginnings. Check out Phantasmagoria first. I'd say it's their most Gothic offering. |
I kind of like Graves more. Danzig was a great run, and introduced them and brought them to life. I don't know why people say that there were no Misfits after Glenn left, maybe it's just me but I like all Misfits songs.
|
Graves is good, but I prefer Danzig. He sure seems like an ******* from what little Ive been lucky enough to see of him, but I still prefer his time with the Misfits to Graves'.

Honestly, save for "Halloween", I think "Scream!" with Graves is better than anything they recorded with Danzig.

danzig
his voice is superior and sensuous |
glenn danzig is a god amongst men. or rather... a demon?

I'm in love with Danzig.
I would marry him right on the spot of this concert. Minus the fishnet shirt. |
Graves tbh
|
Danzig. I don't know why.. I can't figure it out.. oh, wait.. I know why.. GRAVES SUCKS!!!
|
I voted for Danzig cause of all the singles, eps and albums they released with him, however Graves has a powerful voice as well, a shame they only released 2 albums (3 if you count Evilive II) with him on vocals

Fixed that for you. |
Danzig obviously Static Age and Walk Among Us are good, The rest aren't.
Also on an unrelated note.......Danzig solo is pretty cool. |
