How can you not like 1970?

Raust 11-26-2009 09:42 PM

The Stooges are awesome. My favorite song by them is "I wanna be your dog".

proto-punk 12-01-2009 09:39 PM

all of fun house is arguably their best songs to me, thats the most vital album to check out first. my #1 fav song would be too hard to say since they got so many good things

Sansa Stark 12-02-2009 02:47 AM

They are spectacular in concert.
I saw em in Detroit...in 04?
I even touched the man, I nearly dieeed.

jacklovezhimself 12-10-2009 09:52 PM

I would definitely agree with Fun House being my favorite record by them. It was just so free and chaotic.

James 03-17-2010 03:57 PM

Fun House is a great record and about this biopic from all the people to play Iggy Pop why Elijah Wood oh sorry I forgot about that long lost album where about Middle Earth lol bad jokes.Oh on an unrelated note I finally learned I Wanna Be Your Dog on bass I know it's easy but im a beginner so leave me alone.

Unknown Soldier 03-17-2010 04:01 PM

They`re going to be at Sonisphere (Knebworth) this year, I`ve never managed to see this legendary band, so looking forward to it.

lostrocker815 03-24-2010 01:31 AM

Iggys cool. Didn't know much about him until he did the contest here in NZ to re record the passenger for a TV advert. Was fun to enter the contest

"1970" is great, but my vote for best on "Fun House":

Fun House is their least acknowledged album by many, which is a shame, cause it is their strongest.

It is?

Whenever I heard of the Stooges all I ever heard about was how great Funhouse was.

BastardofYoung 06-20-2011 10:59 AM

Maybe it is just the people I have met. 9 out of 10 times when people tell me about The Stooges, they never seem to talk about this one. Seems to be more a fan favorite I guess. I rarely hear people talk about "Fun House".

Unknown Soldier 06-20-2011 05:07 PM

The Stooges are one of those groups, that people just feel they have to like as its the cool thing to do. The amount of people that I`ve met over the years, that say they love the Stooges (I`d guess most have only heard a few songs) usually amazes me, considering the lack of musical knowledge that some of these people have.

The Stooges were about energy and attitude which they had in abundance, which made up for their lack of quality in the song writing department.

The story goes, that Iggy Pop was actually one of the first well known vocalists to be inspired by Jim Morrison when the Doors appeared in Detroit circa 68. He was so impressed to see Jim in a daze, falling on the floor and falling off the stage, that he knew he just had to incorporate some of this into his own act :finger:

Howard the Duck 06-22-2011 07:30 AM

i love em

fave song is probably TV Eye

(i wanted to say LA Blues but that's pretty pretentious elitist talk)

...Why? If it's your favorite song, just say so.

I unfortunately don't have any album besides the fantastic Funhouse, but I have liked what I have heard from other albums. Gotta love how these guys were going absolutely nuts onstage in the late 60's. They made rock n roll look truly dangerous.

Funhouse is awesome. If you like them live, get Metallic KO.

Blarobbarg 06-22-2011 09:06 PM

Dang and I saw that at the used book store the other day. I'll try to pick it up.

BastardofYoung 06-22-2011 09:14 PM

"Metallic 2X K.O." is the better version.

richie1 06-22-2011 09:36 PM

Hands down one of the most influencial bands ever. Some of my favs would be:
TV Eye
Search and Destroy
I Wanna Be Your Dog
No Fun
Raw Power

BastardofYoung 06-22-2011 09:39 PM

all good songs.. my favorite Stooges song though:

It's cool. You and I pretty much share the same opinion on the Stooges... I love every second of Funhouse, and "LA Blues" is definitely one of my favorite songs by them.

BANSHEE 04-20-2012 06:58 AM

I love the avatar pic which I can just make out as Siouxsie, where did you get it from? As I'd like to see it in its proper size.

Its none of the album covers, but it could be the back cover or an inner sleeve pic I suppose.

I listened to the Juju album about a week ago, hadn't heard it in some time. That album is sooo good and I would actually call it one of the most impressive albums or if not the best of the whole post-punk genre.

Croatian Masochist 04-21-2012 07:24 AM

Gimme Danger is probably my favourite. I Need Somebody is fairly amazing to, and I enjoy Down On The Street.

CzechSwine 12-22-2015 02:44 PM

Raw Power is best album. Ever. A bit sorry about all those mixing problems. Hard to pick one favourite song, but some of my favourites: Gimme Danger, I Wanna Be Your Dog, Search and Destroy, Penetration ...

From Iggys solo carrier - Lust for Life, Sixteen, I Wanna Live ...

As much as I love their first two, I'd have to agree. Raw Power is just a killer record. I mean, so are the others, but Raw power just has that... power to it you know?

BastardofYoung 12-25-2015 11:33 AM

Am I the only one who thinks Fun House is better than Raw Power?
