im downloading it right now, wanted some mb opinions on it.

I liked it but I heard a lot of other people didn't. It's a bit different but still The Stooges through and through

LoathsomePete 04-11-2009 03:59 PM

"Gimme Danger" is always gonna be my favourite Stooges song.

same.

Odyshape 04-11-2009 11:40 PM

OMG "not right" off of their debut album = **** in my pants

The Pink Panther 04-20-2009 08:59 AM

I'm gonna have to go with Search And Destroy, it just opitimises Rock & Roll. I saw them on telly a couple of years ago playing Glastonbury, they had about 200 people on the stage it was hilarious.
Iggy has got to be the greatest ever rock frontman(or at least one of them)

What i was going to say. Over 30 years and it still kicks arse.

The Pink Panther 04-20-2009 09:19 AM

Raw power has to be the loudest album ever recorded, when I play it on my stereo the vibrations can be felt through my feet! Even Slayer can't do that!

[Paranoid.Android] 04-25-2009 09:04 PM

It's hard to pick a favorite, I love love LOVE Iggy, but among them would have to be:
Lust for Life
1969
Search and Destroy
Little Doll
Pinpoint Eyes
I Wanna Be Your Dog

They did that at Download festival too. They just invited peope up on stage and before they knew it they probably had 80+ people on stage with them. The security just couldn't keep up.

And I would agree with that. For me Iggy is one of the best frontmen I have ever seen and quite possibly THE very best.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-05-2009 12:07 PM

My first exposure to Search And Destroy was it being covered by EMF.

Yes THAT EMF

:(

*spits out tea*

they really were a Busted prototype! Anyone got an album going?

Grunge_Junkie 05-13-2009 01:31 PM

Iggy is a great onstage performer. And I think a good singer and musician but what do I know?

same! great band... so sad that Ron died though.

edwardbroadway 05-18-2009 12:25 PM

I ****ing love this band. I haven't bothered with The Strangeness (or is it The Weirdness?), but the holy trinity that the first three albums make is incredible.

jacklovezhimself 05-29-2009 02:43 PM

1970 and Search In Destroy are obvious choices.

Ziggy_Stardust 06-02-2009 03:08 PM

all right man, iggy is groovy but also and a-hole, haha.

asshat 06-04-2009 03:10 PM

I got a right
not right
no fun
tv eye
shake appeal

Odyshape 06-07-2009 01:49 PM

Why haven't the stooges been inducted into the rock'n roll hall of fame, I just don't get it.

jacklovezhimself 06-08-2009 05:33 PM

It's better off.
The fact that Madonna and John Melloncamp have been inducted means that the only Hall Of Fame that matters is the MB one :)

Rendoll Flag 06-09-2009 11:52 PM

I too love IggiPopus

lePetiteCrab 06-30-2009 02:12 PM

I wish that they could find some middle-ground between Iggy's re-mix of Raw Power, and Bowie's original mix. Neither one is really totally satisfying.

Mirrorball95 06-30-2009 03:17 PM

I dont have any of his stuff with The Stooges but I having a growing interest in his solo works. I have one album 'Lust For Life' & 'The Passenger' is a top song.
More recentley, I just bought his 'New Values' album after hearing 'I'm So Bored' on youtube. Cant wait to hear it.

The Monkey 07-01-2009 08:55 AM

I prefer their self-titled debut over Fun House and Raw Power, but it's all good.

...ironically enough the stooges inducted madge into the hall of fame and they covered ray of light.

Neon_Soup421 07-08-2009 08:44 PM

All of Raw Power. I saw Iggy and the Stooges two years ago. Amazing, but they are old people.

Sonic Youth did a fucking sick cover of that song. Put this sh!t on full blast
As far as The Stooges go, I've only briefly listened to their self-titled album, which was pretty rockin' I have to say. Yep, the late 1960's was a great, great time for music.

Seragon Ripper 09-07-2009 08:02 PM

Iggy Pop is amazing

DetroitMike 09-29-2009 10:37 AM

Being from Detroit, I take great pride in the Stooges...Iggy has gotta be the hardest working man in the business (a must see live) Funhouse has to be the greatest album. Gimme Danger is probably topping my list on favorite songs.

Molecules 10-02-2009 07:24 PM

re mirrorball's love of 'i'm bored', this is one of my favourites also, i think 'New Values' is one of the great underrated albums of his career. someone around here agrees but i cant remember who, urban?

this footage on the OGWT DVD was my first exposure to Iggy Pop's stage presence, real mind blower, f*cking great year for music. You can bet your arse that Ian Curtis etc were watching this mouths agape from their living rooms!

and a dodgy white stripes version if you're feeling adventurous
YouTube - The White Stripes-I'm Bored

the thing about the stooges stuff is that each of the three (i havent heard 'the Weirdness') albums blows you away with a totally different approach sound/production wise.

Punk 10-04-2009 11:44 AM

Down on the Street is my favorite

The Monkey 10-14-2009 05:47 PM

A while ago I made out with a girl who claimed she had made out with Iggy Pop on a festival a few years ago. Does that count as me having made out with Iggy Pop?

lars 10-22-2009 04:26 PM

I love Raw Power album.. gimme danger i

DIDIPP 10-24-2009 03:29 PM

Iggy is coming to my country and I won't see him. How disappointing.

DetroitMike 11-09-2009 10:58 AM

Legend!

Iggy is the man, he's got to be the hardest working man in show business. being from Detroit I have a biased opinion somewhat, but if you haven't seen him live you're truly missing out. I've made such suggestions to people whom weren't a fan of his in the past, and then after coercing them to go to a show, they quickly realized there's more to it...I was glad to hear he was finally inducted as a legend of rock, his catalog and song list is so extensive, and full of RAW POWER that you can't deny him that. I've been calling him a living legend since I first saw him some 20+ years ago...I still won't miss a show!

Molecules 11-11-2009 05:14 PM

Complete recordings of a 7th November gig in Brazil. Entertaining as ever, but it looks like Iggy is finally succumbing to old age =/

This is post-Ron Asheton obviously, I didn't realise they've decided to carry on touring with James Williamson (who played guitar on Raw Power etc) as 'Iggy & the Stooges' (as opposed to 'the Stooges'). Oh and Mike Watt is on bass!

gunnels 11-11-2009 05:28 PM

Ok guys, I rather dislike their first two albums but I'm going to check out Raw Power to see I can get into that. Anything else I should check out too?

folo yer nose....
allmusic ((( The Stooges > Discography > Main Albums )))

The Monkey 11-16-2009 05:30 PM

They're making a biopic about Iggy Pop, set during his time with The Stooges. Elijah Wood is gonna play Iggy.

Iggy Pop - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thoughts?

jacklovezhimself 11-16-2009 07:59 PM

Elijah wood???
Really???
