Kerbump!
The Passenger has always been my favourite Iggy tune. Obvious choice, but it never fails to hit the mark. I know Bowie helped produce 'Lust For Life'. Anyone know for sure if that's Bowie doing the la la la's in 'The Passenger'? Edit: joining in that is. |
Pretty sure.
They were both recorded in the same studio working on each others albums in Berlin , Bowie on Low & Heroes , Iggy on Lust For Life & The Idiot. Bowie played keybords in Iggys backing band for the tour too. I have a CD of one of the gigs somewhere. |
It sure sounds like him...never realised before.
The cd sounds interesting. *hint* What a combination. That must have been some recording session. |
The biggest shame is that for Iggy`s 'Solider' album in 1980 he was due to have Bowie producing and have Steve Jones & Paul Cook from the Pistols in his backing band.
But Bowie & Iggy had a huge fight before they started & they didn`t speak for something like 15 years , and the album ended up being one of the worst he ever recorded. |
Bowie definitely had a massive, positive effect on Iggy.
I'd even guess that without his help at that time (not 1980, but earlier) his career could well have crashed. |
Yeah thats true , It was Bowie that got the Stooges back together for their Raw Power album too.
He was really in the sh*t in the 80s May I present one of the worst albums I have ever had the misfortune of listening to..... http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...0:ub8uak8k5m3x |
I would say, I wanna be your dog. Even though the rifts are so easy, it's fun to play and sing along to. It's been one of my favorite songs, and their best album is defiantly Fun House. Gah, I can jam to that album and it never gets tiring.
|
my favourites are I Need Somebody, Ann, Dirt, We Will Fall, TV Eye and I wanna Be Your Dog. Best Album is the debut for me. Absolutely immense band. I've always preferred Iggy with the stooges over his solo work
|
I've only got Raw Power, I really liked Search and Destroy which was the first song I got, I thought hello, this is not bad at all. When I got the rest of the album I played it through and it was pretty good too, S&D was still my favourite though. Admittedly, since then, I didn't fancy the album so much that I've listened to it regularly, maybe once or twice.

You can now get a 7 cd set of all the Funhouse sessions
