Are the slits considered post punk?
Plus Swell Maps, their just fantastic. They have a lot of the energy that Wire had on Pink Flag and the garageness of early Fall.

I love Swell Maps and Raincoats. Swans are up there too if we can count them as post punk, they have the best consistent discography of any post punk band I can think of. And I know The Wipers were around real early and are usually considered a punk band (as far as I've heard) but they sound like post punk in a lot of ways to me. If they count they win for sure.

I love the wipers one of the first bands I really got into, greg sage is such a cool guy! Although their most recent stuff has all sounded far too similar. All of post Over the Edge albums sound too much alike. If I were to pick one of the post Over the Edge albums I would pick Follow Blind. What did you think of their work after Over the Edge?
I should give the Swans another shot, I remember listening to them a while ago but that was before I was got listening to No-Wave. What would you recommended I start off with by them?

Well, my favorites are the first three, but I honestly didn't think Silver Sail was completely horrible. If you haven't heard it it's the first album they released after getting back together. These days, I only have Is This Real, Youth of America, and Over the Edge... and the Alien Boy EP, it kicks ass too.

As for The Swans, I'd say it depends what you're looking for man. They changed a lot in the later years they were around, The Burning World and after that. The Great Annihilator is probably the easiest to digest, but if you're looking for something easy then you shouldn't be listening to The Swans at all. But for classic Swans at their greatest and noisiest, you just can't beat Filth or Cop. Greed is ****ing great too. Their last album, Soundtracks for the Blind, is all over the place but I'd definitely check it out as well.

I thought so too, I would say Silver Sail was runner up to Follow Blind.

I'd say Sonic Youth and The Cure at a close second.
