Do The Smiths count?

One of the things I enjoy most about post punk is the experimentation and the diversity behind it.

Gang Of Four lacked both of those. There are much better post punk bands that should be talked about. Lucifer Sam posted about Savage Republic a few days ago, they piss over anything Gang Of Four ever did.
What is a good Savage Republic album to start off with?

There is some evidence to suggest the band would have gone in the same, or at least similar direction had Curtis lived and I believe Joy Division would have blown New Order clean out of the water had it worked out that way.
the track ceremony proves this

there is a rough version with curtis singing it...still better than NO

If I had to pick A favorite, Wire.

But I dig all types of post-punk stuff. My favorite probably changes from time to time, and quite often for that matter. Lately though I've been burning up the Wires Pink Flag and Chairs Missing albums, so they get my vote.

Does your name come from the Cows album by any chance?

Disagree, NO did a good job with it, seeing as how Bernard had to write the rest of the lyrics, he made it a beautiful song. Both JD versions of Ceremony are pretty incoherent imo. Although Bernard doesn't convey the emotion that the lyrics deserve, he does pretty well on it.

Had my first taste of the Slugf'uckers tonight, I'm digging it very much I must say. They're an Australian post-punk band, sound kinda like Swell Maps and PiL thrown into a blender ... interesting indeed.

I would have to say Crystal Stilts. Their full-length (Alight of Night) is getting regular plays in my iTunes. If you haven't heard them, I strongly suggest that you check them out.
