You know, 9 times out of 10 when someone makes a claim like that I wind up underwhelmed, but in this case holy shit are you ever right! I've never heard of that song or that band before I really dig it. What's the name of the album it's from?

Glad you liked it! It's on the album From the Lion's Mouth by The Sound. I know what you mean with that claim being overused but I was pretty sure I'd be right on this one because "New Dark Age" is one of The Sound's lesser-known songs, and they're a somewhat obscure band to begin with. What post-punk do you like?

Oh, I like a lot of post-punk type stuff. Off the top of my head, some post-punk or post-punkish stuff I like:

Joy Division
Bauhaus
Gang of Four
Wall of Voodoo
The Church
The Cure
ESG
Pylon
Killing Joke
PiL
The Smiths
Alien Sex Fiend
Christian Death
Love & Rockets
Siouxsie & the Banshees

I like most of those, especially The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Cure. Bauhaus, not so much. I'd never heard of Pylon before reading your list, so I checked them out and liked some of what I listened to (particularly "Danger," "Cool," and "Feast on My Heart").
You should look into The Chameleons if you haven't yet.

(poor audio quality but contains 2 songs I'd recommend)

Pylon are awesome! Gyrate is such a sweet album.

The Chameleons are cool, I really have to be in the right mood to listen to them though. A lot of that 'dreamy' post punk stuff (Chameleons, Lowlife, some Cure albums, etc) isn't stuff I could just stick on and enjoy, I need to be in the proper mood for it.

I think I'm going to need to look up this band The Sound. I really enjoyed that song and could totally use them to help mix up some of my mixtapes I've been making on 8tracks.com I'm not really that big into post-punk minus the usual suspects like Joy Division, The Fall, and arguably Killing Joke.

Gyrate is frankly great - have you checked out their other albums? I've been meaning to.

I'll third the Chameleons recommendation... Strange Times is a godly album and one of my post-punk picks, but they're pretty consistent in general really.
