Yes I agree that this poll is stupid because you can only vote once, which defeats the purpose of why I created it in the first place (I f*cked up bad when I made it).
When I said "go listen to some music", I merely implied you to go listen to some of these bands you dont know of, because they are fairly common and well-known. I had no intention of insulting your current music taste, nor did I explicity (or implicity) apply that at all. That's the way you interpreted it, not how I fronted it. Sorry I "stole" your idea, but I honestly never listened to the bands you originally compared {thrice, rise against}, nor did I even think of them as punk to begin with. Maybe that's my fault. BTW, I don't even know what you listen to anyway, besides those two and Yellowcard. My point: just cause you don't know the music, don't call it sh*t. either way, it doesnt matter. You're entitled to make your decisions about what music you do and dont listen to. I'm not at all "cut" by anything you've said, I don't see why you should be. Gosh, you e-punks are so sensitive, get a grip.

And besides even though my taste of music has changed slightly since last year. Yellow Card are still cool...they have a violinist, how can that not be cool!!?

I listen to yellow card sometimes. How unpunk am I? its sad when people wont even own up to what they have in there record collection or what they acctually like out of fear of persecution. Its even funnier when they dont even consider a band because they think there not punk enough.

I pushed Dead Kennedys to a second vote in this thread. Despite all of the crap that went after 1986, my vote is based on the time they were among one of the best bands ever. Inventive, influential, darkly humorous, thought-provoking, and just plain great.
So many great choices, so little time - a lot of double plus great bands on there but for some reason or another they were not chosen. The Stooges are a major influence and their first three albums still rank as serious classic to this day and Metallic KO certainly is a trip through Hell (one for serious fans only). Even some of Iggy's Mid 70's stuff with James Williamson was good and almost up to level. Still, there were other things to consider for my vote. I love The Misfits for their attack and the years with Danzig although recent events dulled the edge. I always salute the best of the Damned, but then there was albums like Anything (I flip flop on Music for Pleasure). Crass I highly respect for what they did and contributed to Punk, but at times they took it too seriously despite the wit and inventiveness. The Buzzcocks are what Punk Pop should be, and their return was one of the better ones. I still have not found anything to criticize about - their first life was short and sweet and their reunion was just as grand. This is a band that made me wish there was allowances for additional choices. I love X, Social Distortion, The Avengers (CLASSIC!), Black Flag (the crap that's going on really lowered them for this list, but I will always respect their classics - Damaged!), SLF, The Clash...damn it about 2/3 of this list. Yeah, I'm stretching this a little... Last edited by Screen13; 08-31-2013 at 02:49 PM. |
