Default What Band Got You Hooked?

So what was the first punk band/cd that got you interested in punk? Describe the situation as well as you can- how old were you, where were you, how did you get introduced to them? Also, how did your punk taste change as you got older? Be frank and honest, no one is gonna criticize you for what you listened to in the past.

My story: About ten years ago, I was in Borders bookstore when I lived in Ohio. I was with the entire fam, and I ran across... Rancid "Let's Go." Gimme a break, cause I was ten. I heard about them from a few guys in an older grade. When I grabbed the CD, I remember thinking, "Woah these guys look tough. That guy with the mohawk is flippin me off." From there, things get blurry. But, I remember grabbbing the self titled the next time around, then "Energy"- the Op Ivy CD. I kinda moved backwards in terms of punk music, it wasn't until my early high school years that I cared more about the newer punk. At some point I briefly got bored with punk, and gave away all my cds to friends and family and started listening to gangsta rap. That was brief, and eventually i got back on track. Currently I listen to a bit of everything from most genres.

I found a punk o rama cd in a car the my dad bought. I heaerd 1998 and was hooked. I searched the car for like 3 days afterwards looking for other lost cds. I bought a propaghandi cd and things just went from there. I got into hardcore a little bit before that but 1998 was my turn on to punk. Now its baisically evolved to loving everything

Exploited - Live on Stage was the first punk album i heard, along with the Blatz/Filth split and Dead Kennedys - Bedtime For Democracy. Since that day (12 years ago) I burried myself in punk. for the longest time i disected every piece of music i could get my hands on, and picked up anything that looked remotely interesting.

5th grade. Offspring's song The Kids Aren't Alright. Radio.

After that my older friends gave me some Ramones, Greenday, Rancid, Op Ivy, that sorta thing. In 8th grade I really liked Anti-Flag.

the Casualties and Dead Kennedys got me hooked. Casualties came first, they were on a CD my friend's brother gave her and Dead Kennedys...I don't even remember. I remember hearing like..2 songs by them and rushing out to the music store and buying Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables(first punk album). From there I started asking around and searching for more, blah blah, here I am today.
