I actually started when I was about 12 and came across Dead Kennedys "Too Drunk To F*ck by mistake. From there it bloomed from Sex Pistols to 999 to newer stuff like Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys. Can't get enough of it.

About a year and a half ago I became completely obsessed with The Clash. Before that I knew nothing about music. I just heard about them and decided to look them up and that was it for me. London Calling is what really got me hooked. From there I just started listening to everything I could get my hands on. First I started exploring other punk and got into The Ramones, The Jam, Patti Smith, etc. Then I got into all sorts of classic rock, then alternative stuff from the 80's like The Smiths and The Cure which led to a Brit-pop obsessed summer. I still love all of that but I've been listening to a lot of current alternative Pete Doherty sort of stuff.

Wow...what a mix of ages! I often wonder what it's like to be a younger person today and find punk rock is your thing. So, I'm an old guy, got into the Sex Pistols when the U.S. media was having a fit about their tour here. I saw a news report on them one night and the next day I went out and bought "Never Mind..." on 8-track.
Punk has been a huge part of my life since those days, and it's great to see the spirit of rebellion and intelligent questioning lives on! It's disappointing to hear people say punk died when Green Day hit big (it's disappointing to hear people say Green Day was never punk...they put out a lot of albums before Dookie.) The newer bands might not all sound like "typical punk", but then again...the bands that started punk didn't either!
