I was given a c90 cassette tape back in the early 80's when i was around 12 years old.One side had Stiff little fingers and the other was a band called 999.These are 2 bands i still listen to now and thankfully they're still around and touring thirty years later.

I grew up skateboarding and punk music always had a large presence in the scene...probably because the punk ethos was similar to skateboardings. Most of the videos I watched growing up had songs from the Misfits and Ramones so those were probably the first bands I got into. After that (since I'm from DC) I started gravitating towards hardcore bands like Bad Brains and Minor Threat to see what the local scene here had produced.

Never liked punk. Got into Alice Cooper and saw that he was influential for punk music. Tentatively started looking at various punk bands, but wasn't really liking what I was hearing.

I guess the first true punk band I liked was Offspring. After that Misfits, and Sex Pistols (because of the Metallica and Megadeth covers of their songs, respectively), some Green Day, The Clash... I'm really still new to punk in general, but am getting more and more enthusiastic about the genre as the days go by.

the ramones.

the scene in national lampoon's family vacation where the kids put on their headphones and blitzkreig bop is playing, changed my life.

Honestly, I can't remember the band that got me into punk rock. There were definately punk rock groups I liked growing up like Blink-182, Green Day, and Hawthorne Heights but they never really got me into the genre like I am now. I think it was when I was researching on the history of punk rock when I was 17 and I started to listen to The Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies, The Misfits, and The Ramones. It kinda just went from there. Now I'm crazy about punk rock.
