There's no need to pick on the newcomers guys, we all discovered these bands at some point in our life and had different views on music at the time. Hell, when I discovered Nirvana aged 13 I thought they were unique and I didn't even hear of the Pixies until about two years later.
Of course Nirvana didn't invent much compared to the Pixies, but they just did what they did pretty well. They drew upon their influences, even copied stuff, but still managed to sound exciting and full of passion.
