You know, looking at this pole. I think it is redundant.
If you say you think either of the bands listed is way better than the other, you are stating a preference for that band (even if it is a pretty excessive one)... so what is the point of the choices that state you prefer one over the other...... or even if you wanna get into it, what is the point of having the way better options? /thinking too much into this

Just going to say I prefer the Pixies, but weren't they one of the main inspirations for Nirvana?

Yes. Kurt said it was his second favorite album (at least according to his top 50 list [ first being "Raw Power")
Kurt said: "A die-cast metal fossil of misplaced draft, with or without the fucking production. Everyone who has ever commented on 'Surfer Rosa' has said that the production's amazing. I agree with that, but the songs are so strong that it wouldn't have mattered if you'd listened to it through a boom-box. I was completely nihilistic up until about four or five years ago, when I first heard this. It changed my attitude. It made me finally admit, after being into punk rock for so many years, that I finally liked other stiles as well. It made me finally admit that I'm a music lover. Their music reminded me of the music that I always wanted to do - and was doing - before I got into punk rock eight or nine years ago."

Nirvana was one of those bands that depended on raw sound, with alot of "watts" behind it. And Kurts unorthadoxed style on vocals was the raw talent that illuminated all that "Fucking Noise". |
