There's no need to pick on the newcomers guys, we all discovered these bands at some point in our life and had different views on music at the time. Hell, when I discovered Nirvana aged 13 I thought they were unique and I didn't even hear of the Pixies until about two years later.

Of course Nirvana didn't invent much compared to the Pixies, but they just did what they did pretty well. They drew upon their influences, even copied stuff, but still managed to sound exciting and full of passion.

Nevermind has a special place in my heart mostly cos it reminds me of this gorgeous Belgian girl in my college whom I was infatuated with, and who was totally into that album as well

I'm gonna say Pixies for nostalgia reasons. Mom had a lot of Pixies playing around over the years and although I'm not super familiar with all their work (have Surfer Rosa and Bossanova...no Doolittle yet) I hold them in high regard as artists. Also, their cover of Wild Honey Pie is awesome and that helped win me over.

I've only recently started to listening to Nirvana so it's not really fair but I feel confident that in the long run I'm gonna always prefer the Pixies. I'll let you guys know if that changes.
