People say "why compare them?" Well, why not? Its just fun to discuss, no point in taking it too seriously. I enjoy this kind of debate. Everyone is going to have their opinion. I voted "i prefer nirvana" out of respect for the Pixies, even though I think Nirvana is better. But even if you think Nirvana is way better, thats really just your preference. There is no way to prove that either one was better. I dont see how people can say Nirvana was a rip off of the pixies, i think theyre quite a bit different.

Agree with the OP and others that the Pixies are far superior. Nirvana was so popular due to timing, right music right time, but the Pixies are more of a timeless band.
