Maybe not but put it this way, they're more punk rock than Rancid and Green Day.

If we really want to get pissy with this genre debate, there is a strong case for classifying Pixies as post-punk, especially their first three albums. And totally agree with Nirvana being more punk than Green Day, in many ways they actually epitomised the punk ethos.

Nirvana every time. - I dont dislike the Pixies, but they're not going to win up against music geniuses like Nirvana, lets face it.
