In the rock and metal section, he mentioned listening Nirvana, here he mentions listening to a cover version of one song..........Who knows what to believe!

Maybe he should have busted out TAME instead.
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth watching that.

The fact he based his opinion of voting Nirvana off of that version, is quite appalling.

Trompe Le Monde is underrated as is In Utero. (by the mainstream at least)

Ok. I'm sorry. I'm not really a big fan of metal bands and when I said that I listen to Nirvana, I listen only to their one song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" which was mainly because I find Casey Abrams performance of that song amazing and beautiful. It's not a big deal. If on the next American Idol, some contestant sings a metal song and I might like it, sure I may listen to more metal songs. Or if it's an American Idol 'metal band' week then I may get to listen to even more metal songs (probably a maximum of 5).

I knew responding to a metal thread was a mistake.

Nirvana and the Pixies aren't metal bands. What the **** are you talking about?

Responding to any thread here was a mistake.

technically you could list grunge under metal.... if you've watched "metal a headbangers journey"

Well Nirvana do have metal influences, especially on Bleach, namely being Black Sabbath and some crossover-thrash bands such as Clown Alley, but they have more punk influences than metal influences in my view. To me their music is well and truly under the alternative rock banner rather than metal itself. The thing is with the grunge label is that while many bands were labelled 'grunge' there was a lot of diversity in sound and you have more metal-sounding bands like Alice In Chains being categorised along with more punk-sounding bands such as Nirvana and Mudhoney.

I see the Pixies have a regular Surfer Rosa but they also have a Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim combo. Should I get that or normal Surfer Rosa?

Personally, I prefer to hear the album the way it was intended. Surfer Rosa is such an intense record, it really doesn't need to be double-disced with anything. And Come on Pilgrim isn't that great.
