I think they're both great bands. Honestly, Kurt Cobain is like my hero even though he killed himself and he's one of the most profound lyricists in rock and roll history. So even though both The Pixies and Nirvana make great music, I think Kurt Cobain makes a big difference. He's like a god. ^^

I'd go with the Pixies because I'm Yankee-Proud and I don't hear them as much on the radio.

I bet I'd like Nirvana a lot more if I didn't hear their slower, heavier stuff on the radio constantly like In Bloom, Dumb, and Lithium.

Nirvana's music and lyrics feel more intuitive and honest tbh...there is something more calculated about The Pixies, and the pretension kind of interferes with the music. I also feel that Nirvana are sonically superior. They were miserable, but it's wise misery...songs like ''Territorial Pissings'' and ''Something In The Way'' show a huge depth of knowledge that Pixies never exhibited imo.

I would say the exact opposite. I always found kurt cobain (while I like the guy) to be in general quite a pretentious individual. The Pixies to me seemed like they just wanted to make some good rock albums and tried really hard without much distraction.

^Agreed, and because of this the Pixies are way more inviting to listen to, I find a lot more intimacy is conveyed from them in their music.

There isn't even one Pixies song I don't like. I can't say that about any other band, even Radiohead.

Fan of both. The Pixies stomp Nirvana into the ground. When i hear TAME, it makes me think of Kurt Cobain sipping a latte while Francis Black sets fire to Cobains memory.
