it was only really great for the first 4 albums, things kinda get patchy after that though I loved the classic rock-ish Album (featuring Ginger Baker and Steve Vai)

Public Image were more interesting. The Pistols were more exciting.

For me, when it comes to music excitement wins the day. Hence I declare it to be the Sex Pistols. If you want to scratch your chin listen to jazz.

Probably about one great albums worth from both bands. Pil did some interesting stuff but a lot of it mundane and predictable once you had heard a number of tracks.

I prefer the Sex Pistols. Not that PiL aren't good.

But honestly, I really don't feel all too strongly about it. Both are good, but Sex Pistols are my personal preference.

Chalk and Cheese , the Pistols sound was that of rock n roll , take away Lydon's vocals and it is straight Rock n Roll , PIL on the other hand were influenced by CAN and Lydon's love of reggae , hence Wobbles deep thundering bass and Levene's arabic dischord .
Home Is Where The Heart Is is a favorite track from back in the day, Jennette Lee was onboard back then. Lydon's love of Hawkwind also plays a part in the sonic canvas of PIL.

The Sex Pistols required no songwriting or musical ability, it was all attitude. PiL combines the attitude with musical innovation, technical ability, and visionary songwriting.
