Here's a band I literally got into just last week called Nomeansno. They truly transcend the typical punk sound by adding elements of math rock and jazz to their music, yet still retaining the production value and ferocity of punk music. I've only just started getting into them but their 1986 album Sex Mad, which is an eclectic and chaotic album to say the very least. I don't think it's the best the band has to offer, but they have quite the catalog so it'll take time to pick out their best work. Here's a few songs off the album though as examples:

Their was a thread called "The very best in canada music" or something a while back. It started off as a 3 Doors Down spammer but got derailed and people started posting their favourite Canadian bands. I posted about Nickelback just for the lulz.
