To punks-in-my-blood: Eww...Something Corporate? So far from being punkrock it's not even funny. I don't get how you could say that. Also Sublime and Thrice aren't really punk either. (oh, and to set everyone straight, I'm speaking of only the "real" punk, not the overly broad genre that it has become today)
To Iamalejo: I agree with you that that list of bands (not counting Social Dis.) is a list that kids think are cool punk. While that's true, that doesn't really take away from the fact that they all play pretty damn good music. You say that the best bet is to just stay in the local scene, but that really kind of limits what's out there to listen to. I know what you mean and everything, but not listening to bands because of what genre they are in or how popular they are is just as bad as listening to music just because of that. I personally think why should anyone not care whether or not a band is the popular thing to listen to. If the music is good, than it's good. Oh and for everyone: good "real"punk bands = subhumans, nofx, NUFAN, propaghandi, SNFU, Christ on Parade, millions of dead cops, TSOl, vandals, DOA, reagan youth, DRI, bad religion, Good Riddance. Just a list for everyone. |

as i just said a couple of posts ago they are the MOST like punk in that list. and i consider thrice to be punk. and all of those bands you named are good and are "real" punk if that is even the case anymore, there are to many branches that i dont like, emo (bad), pop punk (horiable), hardcorepunk (best thing after punk)

Are We Talkin' About A Punk Attitude Or Punk Music ?
Sex Pistols Were more Attitude Than Music Which Is Why They're Seen As The Forefathers And Ramones, Waynes County, New York Dolls, Velvet Underground, The Heartbreakers And The Clash Were More Music And All Bar The Clash Came Before The Pistols. I Personally Think That These Are 'punk' And Not The (In My Personal Opinion) The Sh*t You Called Punk. But Hey - My Opinion. |

I'm into a bit of punk,Against All Authority,Thrice, Sick of it All, Avenged Sevenfold, Thursday(is that even punk?), but what pisses me off most... is as someone mentioned before, how punk is turning into a fashion , more than people appreciating the music.
So many girls walk around my town, wearing black and pink shirts reading 'Punk Couture' or whatever and it's like wtf? If they were true punks then they obviously wouldn't be wearing clothes labelling themselves....

You'all gotsta have
The Exploited The Misfits Germs A Global Threat Operation Ivy Aus-rotten The Casualties The Nerve Agents Dead Kennedys Conflict The Forgotten Minor Threat The Unseen The Clash Refused Rancid Capitalist Casualties Cheap Sex Circle Jerks Black Flag Ramones The Virus T.S.O.L. Youth Brigade Agnostic Front the list could go on... My point is there isn't really a "coolest" punk band, and all bands are different. You can compare all you want, but there is no "almighty" band. Remember, we're talking about "punk" bands. |
