The Queers

Best punk band I have ever heard.
Don't Back Down is such an amazing album.
I wonder if they're still active, and if they're playing somewhere.

I guess it's good that a deliberately tongue-in-cheek name can still make people laugh three decades after the fact.

According to Wikipedia they actually have a new album coming out this year on Asian Man Records.

Odyshape 03-01-2009 09:03 PM

One of my favorite Pop Punk bands of all time, behind Buzz****s and The Descendents.

Side note, can the mods really not take away the cursing filter? I've always wondered that. It seems like the most useless thing ever.

i couldn't listen to them cause of name alone

The name alone makes me want to listen to them.

Darkest Hour 03-13-2009 10:14 PM

haha, this kind of music is cool

turbonacular 03-27-2009 11:39 AM

I love the queers ^___^

bahah

XbrokenX 03-30-2009 09:41 PM

I liked a few songs here and there, like "Blabbermouth," but I did not really get into them overall. The vocal style can get pretty tired quickly.

XbrokenX 03-30-2009 09:41 PM

If you like The Queers, I would also add that Screeching Weasel would likely be up your alley as well. I preferred SW, myself.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-31-2009 10:58 AM

I've seen them every year for 15 years, Joe Queer NEVER disappoints

These guys are pretty cool dudes. Got to meet them and chill with them. One of my best friends and former bandmates works at a recording studio called Sonic Iguana in Lafayette, IN. They came through to do some recording and even played a show that weekend I believe. I'm not a huge fan of their music but they are cool guys, and they know how to perform.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-31-2009 11:23 AM

SO many good bands record at Sonic Iguana

crash_override 03-31-2009 11:34 AM

Yeah, If your into punk. They are pretty big on the punk scene, both locally and nationally. My former band got some free studion time there, although we were not punk at all.

MURDER JUNKIE 03-31-2009 11:38 AM

Mass Giorgini is a genius, he creates the punk atmosphere seamlessly on every album he does. He keeps it perfect but not too perfect

The Lillingtons - Death By Television
is a favorite, listen to Invasion Of The Saucer Men and you'll be hooked

crash_override 03-31-2009 12:02 PM

Yeah I have met Mass, he's a pretty cool guy. I didn't know he was know outside of our little local circle. I'm quite familiar with alot of their work. I will contact my friend and see if he can get some bootlegs or something. Any bands you would be interested in?

MURDER JUNKIE 03-31-2009 12:06 PM

If it has Mass's stamp of approval, it has mine

crash_override 03-31-2009 12:11 PM

lol sure thing. he normally pretty good about letting this guy take raw studio stuff. i mean it is his job to edit it. they also do some live stuff as well. i'll see what i can do and get back to you.

ghostonstage135 04-05-2009 03:36 PM

Saw them play at south by southwest this year in Austin, TX. They put on a really fun show. Good to see an old punk band like them still getting out there and putting on shows.
